It is so rare in life to meet someone who is so accomplished and also so generous with sharing those accomplishments ... I remember being a student in a summer worshop at U of M, thinking about which of many topics I should pick to discuss with you during the private consultation period. I had so many questions and the possibilities seemed infinite. Your willingness to share knowledge and ideas and your beginner's mind - allowing for the contemplation of many possibilities - has made you an outstanding leader in the frontiers of space, with many followers. Spatial econometrics and exploration are becoming mainstream methods, thanks to your contributions. We could not do what we are doing in our research today without your contributions. You have really made a difference. Space cadets, salute our leader!
